Practical Fitness For Your Body In 2006

The New Year has brought with it some drastic shifts in the fitness industry. What was hot and trendy in 2005 isn’t necessarily still giving off the same steam in 2006. Fitness in 2006 is no-nonsense! Functional fitness marks the return of many tied and true fitness trends that are hardly worthy of the term “trend” at all. Rather, these fitness tactics have proven themselves time and time again:

Functional Workouts – You’re bound to hear a great deal of the term “functional training” this year. This refers to any workout that transcends into our everyday activities. Examples of functional exercise include sport-specific training (for novice athletes or weekend warriors), core training and multi-muscle moves that target the muscles we use regularly.

Short Effective Workouts – We’re demanding shorter total body workouts. Examples include fitness classes like – cardio-pump and cardio-resistance training fusion workouts such as Boxercise with weighted gloves. Total body circuits made up of multi-muscle exercises like squats, lunges, push ups, and pull ups are also popular.

Core Training -The core is specifically all of the muscles in your abs and back that help strengthen your other muscles and better support your spine. A happy spine will make simple daily tasks – such as reaching, bending and lifting, chasing the kids, even sex – easier and more enjoyable. Get ready to see more core training hit your gym in the form of stability ball workouts, Pilates and yoga strength and stretch workouts, and abdominal-specific workouts.

Common Sense Dieting – There has been a big shift away from low carb – high protein “wonder diets”. The vast majority of North Americans know that a healthy body needs carbohydrates in the form of whole grains, fiber, colorful fruits and leafy green vegetables for a complete diet. This shift towards intuitive healthy eating recognizes that 6 healthful small meals a day is a lifestyle and not a diet at all. Better yet, it’s an eating plan that people can adopt for life.

Mind-Body Workouts – Fusion workouts with more spiritual origins (yoga and Pilates) mixed with traditional weight training and cardio elements are huge. With mounting stresses at home and work individuals want a way to get in shape physically and mentally.

Fun Workouts – Today fitness is considered a leisure activity, so it has to be fun or people simply won’t do it. Fun workouts to hit the scene are largely dance-inspired – belly dancing, cardio strip, pole dancing, and salsa dance workouts. So we get our fun and workout too!

Workouts at Home – If you’ve decided to get into shape, do you want to spend a ton of money on a piece of fitness equipment that might be a clothes rack in a month? That’s why working out at home, in limited space with small, economical pieces of equipment – like resistance bands, dumbbells, stability balls and pure body weight exercises (push ups, crunches, body squats, bench dips) is high on our priority lists and light on our pocketbooks.

The fitness industry keeps finding new and exciting ways to get people off the couch and moving to various rhythms depending on your taste and preference. In the final analysis, it all boils down to one thing, effort. Losing weight involves more than just shedding pounds and losing inches. It involves retraining your mind and body to adopt a healthier way of life. So, if ever there was a secret that’s it!

Now that we’ve discussed the secret, let’s talk tips. The first tip to remember is that nutrition and exercise go hand in hand. You can’t achieve good health incorporating one and not the other. Your ultimate goal should be to achieve good health, weight loss is like the icing on the cake. Tip 2: water should become your best friend. Water is a natural fat emulsifier and will help your body to burn calories. Tip 3: A balanced diet rich in fiber, protein, fruits and vegetables will round out your regimen and help your weight loss program to be complete. And finally incorporate an aerobic weight loss program that you enjoy and stick with it. Get a workout buddy that is on a similar fitness level and agree to support one another. Select at least 3 times a week to exercise and plan the activities so that your workout is never haphazard. If you plan ahead, have support and stick to your plan you will be on the road to success in no time.

The Dubai Desert: Exciting Safari Activities to Feed the Adventurous Appetite

The Dubai desert is filled with many attractions for guests to indulge in the sights, culture, and traditions it has to offer. Guests can choose from adventure-filled safari tours or a drive through the Dubai mountains and valleys to view historical attractions.

The morning desert safari is perfect for those who want the desert adventure but may not have a full day to spend. A car will arrive at the hotel for a morning drive to the desert for dune bashing which will surely get the adrenaline rushing. The next stop is the Bedouin-style camp for a camel ride, sand skiing, quad biking, and some refreshments. This tour is about two hours and will end with a ride back to the hotel.

For those who do have the time to get the complete thrill and experience of the desert, the evening desert safari is just the thing. This six-hour expedition begins with an afternoon pickup from the hotel to the desert for dune bashing. With the beautiful and picturesque scenery it should be mandatory to bring a camera to capture it all. Next will be a drive to the camp to enjoy a camel ride and a barbecue dinner.

Other activities at the camp include getting henna tattoos, wearing traditional Bedouin clothes for photographs, smoking an Arabic water pipe known as ‘Shisha’, or ‘Hubbly Bubbly’, and watching belly dancers dance to traditional Arabian music. Once the festivities end guests will be sent back to their hotels.

The overnight desert safari includes all the fun and excitement of the evening safari plus more. Once guests are driven to the desert for dune bashing and to the camps for a night of activities, beds will be provided in the camps for a sleep under the stars. In the morning, a light breakfast will be provided and departure will begin shortly after.

The safari tour may not be safe for those with heart problems, pregnant women, the elderly, or children under the age of three, but they can still enjoy the evening desert scenery. An Arabian dinner in the desert is an excellent option. A car will take you straight to the camp for a buffet and barbecue dinner, camel rides, henna tattoos, and a belly dancing presentation. A vegetarian dinner can be requested as an alternative to the barbecue and buffet dinners.

The Hatta Wadi Safari is another tour that will leave guests breathless with its exquisite mountain scenery and lush green valleys. Guests will be picked up from their hotel and taken through the desert to the mountainous area of Dubai known as Hatta.

This is a great time to take pictures as the car drives through the deep trenches of the valley with great views of the million-year-old mountains, and through its natural pools known as the wadis. The next stop is a visit to the Heritage Village where tourists will get the chance to see the ancient fort built in the 16th Century. The last stop will be made at the Hatta Fort Hotel for use of the facilities, a lunch and a swim before heading back to the hotel.
